Oh my god, I have not had the internet for 3 days. Not so bad I know, but thinking I might not have internet before I leave, not being able to finish downloading Numb3rs (not that I download, because that would be illegal and wrong. Not going to be able to finish downloading thanks to Curtis aka my brother aka the Internet Nazi), not being able to email everyone goodbye before I go or post here. The horror, oh the horror.
Also the horror? Packing. My hatred for packing, it is strong. The stupid luggage weight/ dimensions limit, the similarity of packing shoes to a game of Tetris in hell, having to fold everything super neatly and tightly so it'll fit, my love of big fluffy jackets coming back to bite me in the arse, not being able to find my damn trench coat. The madness never ends. Also maddening? Getting my student visa. I will speak no more on the matter because it makes me feel like breaking things.
Wow, this sure is one grumpy entry. I think it's the packing. Oh well. Tonight I will watch Supernatural and eat tasty roast lamb and tomorrow I'll watch the Golden Globes and eat tasty Chinese takeaway. Oh Chinese takeaway place near the cinema that has 'Dragon' in the name, I will miss thee. Chinese food in general, I will miss thee. Not expecting to find a hell of a lot of Chinese food in Italy. Am expecting to find a lot of Italian food (duh) though, which is even better. Hurrah for Italian food. And now, I shall go have a shower and watch the last of the movies I rented for my 'Once Before I Go' movie night.

My daughter was in Rome for 6 months last year, but travelled to Turin for the Olympics - loved all things Italian. Make sure you do not go to the tourist spots to eat - eat where the locals eat. MUCH better food. Go to Bicerin - delicious hot chocolate - not that powdery stuff. Be prepared for nothing ever working wherever you are living - teeny tiny showers with hot water that runs out after 2 minutes and electricity that fails if you run more than one appliance (Italy's way of saving the planet). Not that you can run more than one because you'll be lucky if you find an outlet that works. Don't expect to wash clothes and dry them all in one day. You probably won't have a dryer! Oh, yea, Have fun! But you know what? You'll come back a much more knowledgeable, wiser, mature person - as long as you don't kill off your brain cells with too much wine!
