Hello friends. Just realised today how much progress I'm making with the whole learning Italian thing. For the past moth or so I've felt like I'm banging my head against a brick wall, making hardly any progress but not so! I was watching TV last night and there was a joke, in Italian, on a TV show and I laughed at it. Wasn't until 10 minutes later that I realised that I had heard, understood and reacted possitively to an Italian phrase, all without giving it any thought! Hooray! And then at the dinner table my host family were talking about Harry Potter, and my host mum said, in Italian, that she'd read that Daniel Radcliffe had been in porn, and I understood it! I assumed I had missunderstood but know, Giuditta confirmed that that is what she had said! And I laughed non-stop for 20 minutes at the thaught of Harry Potter in porn, how the producers were going to deal with it and how I definately needed to email Caddie (she of the Harry Potter Slash loving) with this news, except she probably already knew and was frantically searching on the internet for a download of said adult film. Or she'd been the one to produce it, hell, I wouldn't be surprised. (Turns out my host mum was wrong, he's just in a West End stage thing where he appears naked. Still, bet Caddie's having a field day, desperately searching for tickets online and photoshopping Draco Malfoy into the poster.)
Anyways, it appears that I am making great strides in learning l'italiana lingua. Still got a lot to work on though. The other day I accidentally said 'I'm seventeen arses' instead of 'I'm seventeen years old'. Shut up! One's 'sono dicasette ani' the other's 'sono dicasette anni', it's easy to get confused. So yes, doing very well. I've had to change my usual statement when meeting new people from non parlo italiano to parlo un po' italiano. I feel very proud of myself.
Ciao tutti.
